Tiptoe Company constructs a complex musical instrument, presented as a visual installation. Mass produced materials like PVC drain pipes and plastic recorders create a dystopic image, an urban environment wherein new constructions can emerge.

In an immersive performance TC explores the instrument’s specific sound vocabulary: natural scales, organized in complex microtonal tuning systems, combined with percussive sounds, the human voice and electronics. Arrangements of music by ‘pioneers’ in microtonal music, as Harry Partch and Eivind Groven, complete the concert program.

Fonetica is shown as a concert performance (De Bijloke, Festival Kortrijk), a permanent installation inviting visitors to explore sound (Museum Dr. Guislain), or as a childrens “playground” (Big Bang Festival and Muzieklabyrint by Zonzo Compagnie). During the performance in Kortrijk TC plays music with the generous singers from Anemoi/Wit.h coached by Diederik Glorieux, and with students from Conservatorium Kortrijk and Academie Harelbeke.
